The term Unified Communications (UC) has become more prominent in the general Telecom lexicon over the past 2 years. Its origin actually goes back to 2001 when vendors starting integrating email with voice. It has been extended to include chat, presence and SMS.
They next leap in functionality is the additional “C” namely Collaboration. InnerPass is now working with UC providers that want to enable their users to start an Online meeting based on the attendees in a conference call. The attendees will also be able to collaborate on documents during the same call from the same UI without having to switch to another application.
So remember you saw the term UC&C here first.
